2025 National Conference
Our 2025 national conference will take place March 26-29, 2025 in Fort Worth, TX, hosted by Bobby Francis of Texas Christian University.
CALL FOR AT-LARGE AND RESEARCH PRESENTATIONS
The College Band Directors National Association seeks proposals for presentations on topics relevant to band conductors.
Research presentations and poster sessions are peer-reviewed and jury-selected.
At-Large sessions are non-juried presentations selected by the President of CBDNA on topics of interest to our membership.
Guidelines for proposals:
A. Presentations must be the original work of the submitting member(s), and should be submitted by the lead presenter only, listing all co-presenters. Do not submit multiple proposals for the same session.
B. Presentations are generally 25 or 50 minutes. There are no other limitations on the type or scope of proposals.
C. Presentations made at other conferences will be considered if the audience is substantially different (e.g. divisional CBDNAconferences, state conventions or university symposia). A statement specifying particulars of previous presentations should be included in the proposal.
D. The presenter(s) must be a current member(s) of CBDNA for 2024-25 (i.e. dues paid Oct. 1, 2024 through Sep. 30, 2025). Proposals will be accepted from student members currently enrolled in academic degree programs.
E. In keeping with Glen Adist’s vision, The CBDNA Music Education committee would like to encourage those in the membership who have something to share regarding music education to apply to present at the 2025 CBDNA National Conference. One of the actionable items that came from the Think Tank discussions that happened at every regional conference this spring was that we could make a concentrated effort to have more conversations, presentations, and reflection on our roles as college band directors and the part we play in music teacher education. Our 2023 CBDNA census showed that the majority of our membership is engaging with our campus and greater music education communities in meaningful ways. If you have something to share, please consider submitting a presentation proposal and help us continue to move these important conversations forward.
Directions for Submission:
1. Submit proposals using the link below. All submissions will be electronic. No hard copies will be accepted.
2. The deadline for submission is September 15, 2024.
3. Applicants will be notified of the final decision by email in early November 2024.
4. Selected presenters must travel to Ft. Worth, TX, at their own expense. CBDNA does not provide funding for presenters.
Questions about the submission process should be directed to Mark Spede at mspede@clemson.edu
